Tutorial 1 of 7

Your first board in five minutes

Beginner 5 min

Open a template, add your first reference with a screenshot, mark a favorite and find it again with the filters.

Pageboard keeps the websites you want to remember in one place: a title, the source link, your own screenshot, the section of the page, the platform, tags and a note on why it caught your eye. Everything stays in this browser. Nothing is uploaded and no website is loaded for you.

1. Start from a template

Open the workspace. The first time, you see a small example board and a Welcome to Pageboard box with three steps. It never blocks the page; choose Got it to hide it.

Open File → Templates… and pick Portfolio refresh. Templates contain original, fictional prompts without screenshots or links, so you can try everything without typing. A template is only saved in the browser once you change something; the line under the board name says Template, not saved yet until then.

2. Name the board

Click the large board name at the top (it is a text field), type a name such as Studio website refresh and press Enter. The line below now reads Saved in this browser.

3. Add a reference

Choose Add reference (or press N). Fill in:

  • Title – what you want to remember, e.g. Hero with one strong sentence.
  • Source link – the page address, starting with https://.
  • Section and Platform – for example Hero and Desktop. Pageboard suggests values you already used.
  • Tags, separated by commas – up to eight, e.g. typography, minimal.
  • Notes – why it matters.

Under Screenshot, upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP image of your own – or simply paste one with Ctrl+V or drop it on the dialog. Pageboard resizes it so the board stays small. Choose Add reference. The card appears on the board.

4. Favorites and filters

Every card has a star button in its corner. Press it to mark the reference as a favorite; press it again to remove the mark.

Above the cards, Search references looks through titles, links, tags and notes. Section, Platform and Tag narrow the board further, and Favorites only shows only starred cards. The line above the cards says how many references match; Clear filters brings everything back.

5. Undo, redo and saving

Every change can be undone with Undo or Ctrl+Z and repeated with Redo or Ctrl+Shift+Z. Boards save automatically in this browser. For a backup that survives clearing browser data, use File → Download project file (Ctrl+S).

Next: Add screenshots, links and notes.
